REEL6 is an original series celebrating the producers who bring us the movies we love and who shape our culture in powerful ways not often captured by the spotlight. With the guidance of Gary Martin and the enthusiastic participation of some of Columbia's most storied filmmakers, we are offered an intimate look at the work that makes movies possible. It's a place for producers to tell their stories.

Busterhouse - Gary Martin

Gary Martin is an industry icon who has had an undeniable impact on American cinema. In his career at Columbia Pictures, Mr. Martin has overseen the production of more than 600 films, including the blockbuster Spider-Man, Men In Black, and Ghostbusters franchises, as well as many of the studio's most celebrated modern classics like The Smurfs, The Social Network, Superbad, Casino Royale, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Prince of Tides, and Tootsie. Mr. Martin sat with us in Stage 19 at the Sony lot to talk about some of his favorite projects. He had the generosity of spirit to make REEL6 possible. It has been a singular honor to work with him.

Busterhouse - Doug Wick

In 1999 Douglas Wick produced the critical hit Girl, Interrupted as well as the box-office hit Stuart Little. The following year he produced Gladiator, which netted Mr. Wick an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA award, all for "Best Picture".  In 2000 Mr. Wick also produced the Sci Fi hit Hollow Man. In the next few years he produced Spy Game, Peter Pan (the first live action version of the J.M. Barrie classic tale), a successful Stuart Little sequel Stuart Little 2, and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!. In 2005, Mr. Wick produced two more critical hits, Jarhead and Memoirs of a Geisha as well as Bewitched and another Stuart Little sequel Stuart Little 3: Call of the Wild. Wick also produced RV and a Hollow Man sequel Hollow Man 2 in 2006. In 2013, with wife and partner Lucy Fisher, Mr. Wick produced The Great Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, which won two Academy Awards.

Lucy Fisher has served as Vice Chairman of the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group at Sony Studios, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Production at Warner Brothers, Head of Production at Zoetrope Studios and Vice President of Production at Twentieth Century Fox. She was once described by actor Jack Nicholson as "this casually brilliant vice chairperson of Sony Pictures. The executive that no one flees at parties." Along with her partner and husband Douglas Wick, she is co-head of Red Wagon Entertainment. Fisher and Red Wagon’s most recent production was The Divergent Series, based on Veronica Roth’s New York Times bestselling books. Divergent stars a cast of stellar newcomers including Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort, as well as Oscar winner Kate Winslet. It was followed by the sequels Insurgent and Allegiant, which also star Naomi Watts and Jeff Daniels. Previously, Fisher and Wick produced The Great Gatsby, which won two Academy Awards, was directed by Baz Luhrmann and starred Leonardo DiCaprio. She sat down with us to talk about Memoirs of a Geisha, which won Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume Design.

Busterhouse - Brian Helgeland

Brian Helgeland is an American screenwriter, film producer and director. He is most known for writing the screenplays for L.A. Confidential (for which he received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay), Mystic River, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master. Mr. Helgeland also wrote and directed 42, a biopic of Jackie Robinson, and Legend, about the rise and fall of the infamous London gangsters, the Kray twins.

Mr. Helgeland wrote and directed the films The Order  and 42. He has worked with director Clint Eastwood twice, in 2002 on Blood Work, and in 2003 on Mystic River, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. Mr. Helgeland sat down with us to discuss A Knight's Tale , starring Heath Ledger and Paul Bettany, which he also wrote and directed.

Busterhouse - Grant Curtis

Grant Curtis is a film producer who has worked with director Sam Raimi on The Gift, Drag Me To Hell, the Spider-Man films and Oz the Great and Powerful. He grew up in the suburban Missouri town of Warrensburg. Curtis received a master's degree in Mass Communication in 1997 from the University of Central Missouri (UCM). Not long after he completed his thesis/screenplay while living in Los Angeles, Curtis' neighbor informed him that director Sam Raimi was seeking an assistant. Mr. Curtis interviewed for the position, and after waiting many months, he was offered the job. Mr. Curtis sat down with us to discuss Spider-Man , his first project with Sam Raimi, which starred Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.

Busterhouse - Sir Howard Stringer

Sir Howard Stringer has served as Chairman of the Board, Chairman, President and CEO of Sony Corporation. He is also the head of the board of trustees of the American Film Institute and now serves as a non-executive director of the BBC.

Since June 2005, he served as Chairman of Sony, overseeing businesses such as Sony Computer Entertainment, Sony Music Entertainment, Sony Electronics, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Financial Holdings. In April of 2009, he became president of Sony Corporation, also serving as executive chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Corporation of America. He was responsible for the media business of Sony in the U.S. by overseeing the release of the Spider-Man film series, among others.

Sir Howard Stringer sat down with us to celebrate Nora Ephron, who at the time of filming had just passed.

Busterhouse - Michael Grillo

Michael Grillo began his career under the legendary Michael Cimino as Assistant Director for The Deer Hunter, and Heaven's Gate, and continued as First Assistant Director on The Big Chill, The Accidental Tourist , and In The Line Of Fire  . As Head of Feature Production, Mr. Grillo worked on Saving Private Ryan, American Beauty , Cast Away , Gladiator, Catch Me If You Can, and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Mr. Grillo was an Executive Producer on The Green Hornet, Captain America: The Winter Soldier,  Ant-Man, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, which is the highest-grossing movie of all time.

Michael sat down with us to discuss Silverado, a film he Executive Produced for Columbia Pictures.

BOLLYWOOD MASALA

Written, Produced and Directed by Matt Flugger

Bollywood is a movie production phenomenon, releasing over 1,000 movies per year to a ticket buying audience of 3.5 billion. In comparison, Hollywood averages 500 films for a theatrical audience of around 900,000. We were offered to opportunity to dive deep into some seminal Bollywood films and to explore the world's largest movie production machine. We enlisted the help of Big Bang Theory's Arti Mann as hostess and guide on this adventure.
The Bollywood Masala campaign and episodes were written, produced and directed by Matt Flugger. All work was edited, finished and delivered by the production ninjas at SPT OA.

LA VIDA ES COMO EL CINE

In Latin households, the Abue is the queen, the sage, and the seer. To celebrate the success of Cine Sony, we created a comedic minisode series featuring a couple of movie-crazy cousins and their all-knowing Abue. Soon after receiving a Promax nomination for this interstitial series, Cine Sony took market lead as the #1 Spanish-language Hollywood movie cable network.
Conceived by Matt Flugger and Co-Produced with the ace team at 3ROUNDBURST. Finished and delivered by the SPT OA team.

THREE MINUTES

Three Minutes is an original film written and directed by Jett Garrison and co-produced by Film Independent and Vanity Fair. The dance sequence features an original score written by Matt Flugger. That the film has screened at over 25 international festivals is a testament to Jett's towering talent.
